The origins of the French Revolution in focus
chapter
posted on 2023-06-08, 08:47 authored by Peter CampbellThis 18,000 word introductory chapter to a book edited by its author not only surveys the field but offers a new interpretation of the origins of the Revolution, the first for 25 years. Reviews discuss it as such and on its basis I received an AHRC leave award. It should not in my view be submitted as an item itself, but should be a part of the Origins book as a single powerful submission of a book that is greater than the sum of its parts, good as they might be, as they constitute a widely discussed new interpretation overall.

Notes
This is an 18,000 word reinterpretation of the field, in a book I edited that has a second chapter by me in it as well as 10,000 wds of editorial material, so is part of a substantial single rae entry - or should be.Full text available
