Factoring a Specular Reflection Field into Added Diffuse Reflection Fields

chapter
posted on 2023-06-08, 09:13 authored by Adrian Thomas
Using a geometric approach decomposing specular reflecting surfaces into sets of overlayed matte reflecting surfaces. Provides a link between synthetic graphics and machine vision approaches. The basis for dynamic lighting effects in model based TV. Study carried out under Faraday: 3DMATIC DTI-EPSRC project Model from Movies.Originality new.Signification: Within machine vision and model based TV creates a model from captured data which does not require an illumination calculation stage to render dynamic lighting effects. Could well be an important approach needs further research.Rigour: mathematical analysis, results proven in simulation but need further testing and extensions to real data.Book chapter selected refereed papers originating from an International Conference.
