Explores the relatively neglected area of women in psychiatry and out-patient care for the mentally disorders. Also seeks to understand the obstacles that prevented more women from practising in psychiatry and challenges the idea that women psychiatrists were simply operating at the margins of the profession andd therefore their contribution can safely be overlooked.
