Microsatellite markers for the Mallorcan midwife toad Alytes muletensis
journal contribution
posted on 2023-06-08, 00:11 authored by F J L Kraaijeveld-Smit, G Rowe, T J C Beebee, R A GriffithsThe highly endangered midwife toad Alytes muletensis occurs only on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. Little is known about genetic variability and dispersal among the 19 breeding sites (six of which stem from reintroductions) of this amphibian. The value of such information should be high for successful management of this species. We report here the characterization of eight polymorphic microsatellite loci in A. muletensis using individuals from a single population.
