Notes

Hartley contributed to fieldwork and experimental design, directed the data analysis and did much of the writing. The paper demonstrates that tropical tree seedlings alter their growth allocation patterns to match those of their competitors. The outcome of these competitive interactions helps drive the diversity of tropical forests.
