Why Sartre Matters
journal contribution
posted on 2023-06-08, 06:06 authored by Benedict O'DonohoeThis paper is an abridged version of the article of the same title that appears in the "Proceedings of the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution", volume 10. It argues that Sartre's overwhelmingly important contribution to contemporary discourse was his insistence upon individual moral responsibility in all circumstances. Continuous mindfulness of this incontrovertible axiom would lead to immeasurable improvements in the quality of the social, and esepcially civic and political, lives of communities.
