Notes
This chapter contextualises and theorises the issues arising from the ESRC-funded seminar series directed by Sebba with Anne Edwards and Mark Rickinson. The seminar series involved researchers, practitioners and policy-makers from a range of social science disciplines across the UK in debates about aspects of user engagement. The material from the seminars is drawn upon and developed to consider the implications for research design and future developments. Sebba has given key note presentations at international conferences on this theme and the series influenced the setting up of the Local Government Association Research Group. An AERA symposium in Chicago in 2007 presented the main findings from the seminar series and invited peer involvement from participants. A related jointly authored book is in preparation and an article is appearing in the TLRP special edition of BERJ.Full text available
