The aim of this paper is to allow a more precise understanding of the origins of ideology Gironde from an analysis of the writings of two characters who were the first to formulate policy ideas defining it in the 1790s: Jacques- Pierre Brissot and Etienne Claviere. This paper argues that ideas girondines can be understood only against the backdrop of the revolution of Geneva of 1782, while further testing to make France a modern republic, rather than a civilized monarchy defended by Turgot or a radical Jacobin republic, can not be studied in light of the failure of this revolution.
