We are very pleased to confirm that, in recognition of the growing number of high quality articles being submitted to the journal, and the ongoing importance to our authors of timely publication, the journal will increase in the number of pages published in each issue from the 2012 volume. To celebrate this fact, issues 7 and 8 of the 2011 volume are also being extended to include some complimentary additional content. We do not plan to extend the editorial in these two issues but rather to continue to select significant themes which might be of interest to our international readership, and linking these more or less to the articles in each issue. This editorial has been written in the week following the riots in England, which generated emails from colleagues worldwide, including from places such as Canada and Greece which have also experienced riots in the recent past. This is a matter which concerns social work education, as the paradigms from which we teach our students have a significant bearing on the framing of their future responses to social problems.We note, however, uncertainties and differences within and across political parties, media and social networking sites of how best to interpret and manage situations such as these.
