Abstract

The current paper presents a numerical approach in solving the three dimensional conjugate heat transfer problems. A commercial computational fluid dynamics code is integrated with a heat conduction solver for developing a coupled numerical conjugate heat transfer solver. The methodology of treating non-matching and overlapping meshes at interface has been introduced. The validation results for the developed conjugate heat transfer code have shown close agreement with the solutions given by analysis. The work aims at developing a pioneering conjugate heat transfer package for modelling the complicated system of gas-turbine rotating discs-cavities.
