Abstract
Middle childhood (6-12 years of age) is marked by gradual change in terms of physical growth, but significant change in terms of psychological growth and development. This contribution reviews recent research highlighting dimensions of children's normal psychological development as well as noting some factors operating in middle childhood that are linked to later mental health problems. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd.
