Highlights
•Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved its highest ever vote and seat share in a general election.
•First time that a non-Congress party won a majority of seats since the 1977 general election.
•Congress suffered its worst defeat in a general election.
•BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) formed the government.
•Narendra Modi of the BJP became the Prime Minister.
