Increasing the resilience of society
journal contribution
posted on 2023-06-09, 04:23 authored by Jonathan NewmanMy article for City Security questions how the term 'resilience' is used in the security industry and how in recognising complexity it has become a way to abandon human and environmental responsibilities, thus causing greater complexities. The relationship between the state and private security companies is examined in a time when increased securitisation perpetuates the sector but does not necessarily bring security. City Security is published in close partnership with the City of London Crime Prevention Association. They 'promote best security practice and to keep businesses informed on a variety of security-related issues with articles written by well-respected leaders in the security industry'. As the publication of this article suggests, the magazine also encourages debate.
