Abstract

R-222: The Flight of the Hummingbird is a short, hybrid, live action and animated documentary about Cyril H. A. Taylor's historic 1932 flight across the Andes mountain in a Comper Swift light aircraft. The film uses this first of it's kind flight across the Andes as the starting point for a meditation on the nature of man-made flight, human ingenuity, man's spirit of adventure, areal photography, surveillance and autonomous flying machines.
