Abstract

How might we, as individuals, act, rather than just be ‘acted upon’ by media forms and technologies? How might we work with communications technologies, devices with the capacity to operate upon understandings of the body, in order to effectively transform the material intelligibility of the body? This paper articulates the interaction between digital media technologies, the representation of bodies, and the ways one might position themselves in order to disseminate alternative visions.

This paper was presented at the "Media and Social Transformation" Roundtable at the Universidad Estadual Paulista in Bauru, Brazil in November 2016.
